Bilingual in Spanish, pierced and stretched and unstretched and restretched, tattooed, branded, scarified, left-leaning, but not so far as to fall over. In-flux Christian, musical polyglot, omnivorous flexitarian, once and future guitar picker, sometime sightsinger, amateur pedicurist, cyclist, dog freak, potentially stubborn bastard, bush-league martyr.
Slave to the bean.
Favorite Foods: Carbohydrates of all kinds (especially bagels), cheesy grits, Capogiro's bitter chocolate gelatto, stuff with hot peppers, eggs at the Midtown, Chinese Food, Vietnamese food, gyros, pizza hot or cold, squid, octopus, and more.
I had my dog Iiko put to sleep in 2003 after 13 mostly good years. I think good thoughts when I think of him.
One of my favorite forms of music is Indonesian/Balinese gamelan - The Bali Sessions, Music for the Gods are the best I've heard. I like that the intonation sounds a little "off" to my still-Western ears, and I like its communal nature. For similar reasons I like King Sunny Ade's Nigerian juju music.
